The PO, a cafe that is a hotspot for the local residents of Washington, Connecticut, held its first after-hours event on March 23. The PO After Hours event ran from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, had live music, new items on the menu, and free snacks. The first thirty people to arrive at the PO received a coupon for a free drink and the option of a cookie or fries. Groups of students gathered inside the PO ahead of time in preparation for the opportunity. Furthermore, the live entertainment was played by the owner’s son and he showcased his rock band, The Sauce. The music continued to play throughout the night and then the band made a switch from rock to jazz music. The students and the locals liked both types of music. The students favored the new menu items, which were fried Oreos along with their french fries.

The Po continues to be a hotspot on campus and the After Dark event solidified it as the most popular hangout spot for students. While students are able to enjoy meals in Sulley Dining Hall, with the Po being on campus it allows students to grab a bite to eat and also converse with locals that happen to be in the cafe. The Po is a key location for the students on campus and the many locals that find themselves eating at the Po everyday.

Aniah Sam, 27’, one of the many students who attended the event early and received a coupon for a free drink and fries, said, “ I had a great time at the PO. My favorite part of the night was when my friends and I arrived an hour early to get a perfect spot in line, and to waste time, we played a game of charades. The PO has always been a favorite of mine since arriving at the Frederick Gunn School. I try to visit the PO at least once a week and get a Reitman wrap with side fries. I already have so many many memories that I have made with my friends at the PO.”
