After a fruitful three weeks of spring break, Highlanders are now into their final trimester of the year. The air is filled with anticipation, and it’s not hard to see why. The spring term at the Frederick Gunn School is a whirlwind of activity and celebration, unlike any other time of the year. According to the Head of School, Mrs. Gum, the spring term holds a special place in the hearts of students and faculty alike. But what exactly sets this term apart from the rest?

One of the most notable aspects of the spring term is the sheer number of events packed into just a few short months. From the very first weekend back on campus, Highlanders find themselves immersed in a flurry of activity. Community weekends kick things off with a sense of togetherness and camaraderie, setting the stage for what’s to come. Shortly after, tryouts for spring sports allow students to showcase their athletic prowess and join their teammates in pursuit of victory or just try out new sports for fun.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Revisit day offers prospective students a chance to experience life at Gunn firsthand, while course selection day marks a pivotal moment in every Highlander’s academic journey. The Spring Concert showcases the incredible talent of the school’s musicians, while the Founder’s Day regatta pays homage to the school’s rich history and maritime tradition.

Of course, no spring term would be complete without the iconic events that have become synonymous with the Frederick Gunn School experience. Prom night is a magical evening filled with laughter and dancing, while the spring carnival brings the entire community together for a day of games, water rides, and delicious food.

As the term draws to a close, anticipation builds for the ultimate culmination of the school year: Commencement. This bittersweet moment is a time to reflect on the memories and friendships forged as graduates prepare to embark on the next chapter of their lives.

But perhaps one of the most beloved traditions of the spring term is the Clash of Colors, where students proudly don their class colors and compete in a series of spirited competitions. It’s a time-honored tradition that brings out the competitive spirit in everyone and fosters a sense of unity among classmates.

However, the sense of community and togetherness permeating every aspect of campus life makes the spring term the best. Whether cheering on classmates at sporting events, studying together late into the night, or simply sharing laughs over meals in the dining hall, Highlanders cherish the bonds they’ve formed throughout the year.

As the days grow longer and the temperatures warmer, there’s an undeniable energy in the air, propelling students through final exams and projects with renewed vigor. Spring term at Frederick Gunn School isn’t just about events; it’s about coming together as a community, celebrating achievements, and forging lifelong friendships. So, is spring term the best term? For Highlanders, the answer is a resounding yes.
