The Frederick Gunn School hosted its annual semi-formal Valentine’s Day dance this Saturday, bringing students together for a night of music, dancing, and celebration. The Prefects organized the event in the Thomas S. Perakos Arts and Community Center, featuring a live DJ, themed decorations, and refreshments, ensuring a lively and festive atmosphere. Students were encouraged to dress in semi-formal attire and embrace the joyous spirit of Valentine’s Day, making memories with friends and classmates.
Last year, my friends and I walked into the Valentine’s Day dance expecting just another school event—but by the night’s end, everyone was belting out songs on the dance floor, surrounded by classmates in a sea of red and pink. This past Saturday, the tradition continued at The Frederick Gunn School as students prepared to step away from their studies and immerse themselves in an evening of music, laughter, and celebration. Freshman Timothy Wang shared his excitement about attending the dance for the first time, saying, “It’s a moment I’ll remember and the moment that will linger in my mind forever.”
Soft pink and red lights glow over the Perakos Arts and Community Center, where clusters of students gather near the dance floor, some nervously adjusting their ties and dresses, others already moving to the rhythm of the music. The sound of laughter and conversation filled the air, mixing with the steady beat of the DJ’s playlist. As The Frederick Gunn School’s Valentine’s Day dance began, students took a moment to enjoy the break from winter’s chill and embrace the warmth of the occasion.
What’s better than celebrating Valentine’s Day with chocolates and roses? How about an evening filled with music, dancing, and friends! The Frederick Gunn School’s semi-formal Valentine’s Day dance promised excitement, community, and plenty of heart-shaped decorations and it delivered!
