The Frederick Gunn School welcomed two new English teachers this fall, a move that brings both fresh perspectives and veteran experience to its curriculum while strengthening the school’s commitment to student success. Their arrival represents more than just staffing changes, it highlights Gunn’s ongoing investment in a dynamic, engaging learning environment.
The new hires join a faculty known for its dedication to both academics and character development. Entering a teaching environment that differs from their previous schools, they find themselves navigating unique classes, expectations, and extracurricular responsibilities. While such changes present challenges, they also create opportunities to experiment with new approaches to instruction, connect with a new community of students, and improve Gunn’s academic and social life.
Administrators note that these appointments are not simply about filling positions but about enhancing the student experience. Smaller class sizes, a hallmark of Gunn’s program, are expected to allow for more personalized instruction and meaningful class discussions. At the same time, the diverse backgrounds of the new teachers bring a wealth of perspectives that encourage students to think critically and reflect on ideas from multiple angles.

“There’s a lot of learning on the fly, and while it’s a lot to take in, but it is a lot of fun,” said Ms. Abigail Weiss, reflecting on the excitement and challenges of transitioning into her new role. Her enthusiasm captures the spirit of growth and exploration that characterizes both new faculty members and the students they teach.
