The time is here, and a fresh wave of boarders from around the globe arrive on campus at The Frederick Gunn School. The new students at The Gunn School are ready to make their impact and find their place in a community filled with character, tradition, and connection. For many, this is not only the start of a new chapter in their educational journey but also the start of their life away from home.
Each year, The Frederick Gunn School welcomes new boarding school students from different cultures and countries. Students don’t only adjust to life at Gunn, but also to athletics, academics, and activities. Every student at the FGS has an opportunity to show what their skills are and learn new things. From playing on the soccer field and exploring outdoor education or joining the theater program, each student is encouraged to try a new activity.
Having students from all over the world shows Gunn’s commitment to global education. Having boarders from different backgrounds allows others to learn more cultures, traditions, and to think differently. Also, the international community creates a sense of unity, which will help students succeed in a connected world. Understanding different viewpoints and traditions equips students with the adaptability and empathy needed for their future success.
For many, the transition to boarding school can be both exciting and scary, Zephyr Fasman ’29 reflected, “I finally feel like I’m in a place where I’m supported and loved.” Zephyr captured the heart of what FGS strives to provide for its students: That feeling of belonging is the FGS experience – Turning the campus into our home.
