Having Goalie Coach Carmine Andranovich join the coaching staff of the Gunn boys hockey team has brought a new perspective for our goalies. A former Gunnery goalie turned into a member of the Frederick Gunn community. Coach Andranovich understands the aspects of the position and the commitment it takes to play at the top level.

Coach Andranovich has already significantly added to the development of the goalies since joining the coaching staff in November 2024. His coaching techniques come from his own personal experience. Currently a full-time student at Quinnipiac University studying Computer Science, Coach Andranovich still manages to handle school and his passion for hockey well.

Coach Andranovich’s relationship with the players has not gone unrecognized. His coaching is credible and productive, and players have no trouble learning from him. Logan Heideman ’25 adds, “Carmine has been a great resource to have around the rink. Especially being a goalie, his knowledge and insight of the position have been really beneficial to me and my development. Off the ice, he’s also a lot of fun to be around and always brings good energy to the rink.”. Alfie Blakeley ’25 agrees, noting, “Carmine is an excellent coach and a pleasure to work with. He’s a great guy off the ice who keeps team attitudes positive.”

Assistant Coach Mr. Gorman ’10 also praised Coach Andranovich, saying, “Having coached Carmine as a student, it’s been wonderful having him work with me now as a fellow coach. He has a special insight, relating to the players but also showing them the way through his own experience. He genuinely cares about our athletes and has been an excellent addition to our program.”

As a whole, Coach Andranovich has already proved himself to be a crucial factor in the success of the team. His balance of seriousness and humor in an atmosphere provides a friendly and wholesome atmosphere for the entire team.
