The Gunn Hockey team is off to an 8-4-4. They have played a tough schedule so far this season, facing some of the top schools in New England. The team has sixteen more games to cement themselves as one of the best in New England. Hoping to make another postseason appearance. The team seems much more connected this year. This is a big part due to the Senior Leadership from Captains Braden O’Neil and three-year veteran Jake Pellicane. The team also holds a lot of PG talent, which helps the team have more leadership.

In recent matchups, the team has earned some significant victories, including dominant wins over Albany Academy (9-3), Austin Prep (9-2), and Nichols (5-1). They’ve also triumphed against powerhouse programs like Loomis Chaffee School and Trinity-Pawling School. However, the team has faced some challenges lately, with back-to-back ties against The Canterbury School and Stanstead College. Despite these setbacks, the players remain optimistic and determined to regain their winning momentum. While talking to Ian Kuisis, he stated, “After some good practices, we seem to be back on track. Unfortunately, the tie on Canterbury was hard but we know what we have to change and are ready for that”

While looking ahead on the schedul,e they have huge games against The Salisbury School, Avon Old Farms, and Brunswick. These teams are some of the biggest programs in New England. Senior Jake Pellicane shared, “I am excited about the upcoming games. We can show that we deserve to be in the conversation for the Elite 8 tournament with a few wins against those top teams.”

The teams know it will be difficult but are happy with the challenges. The network met with senior Tyler Kelly about his thoughts on the team and the way they are working together to make a deep playoff run. “ I believe we have the kids to make a deep run. We have a lot of talent, but I don’t think we’ve shown that yet. I think there’s a lot more to come as we get back into things.” With a combination of strong leadership, team chemistry, and talent, Gunn Hockey is poised to tackle the challenges ahead. The next few weeks will be crucial as they aim to cement their place among New England’s elite and prepare for a deep postseason push.
