Gunn Hockey Skates to Victory: A Strong Start with Three Wins and Counting

Led by captains Braden O’Neil and Tucker Mears, the Gunn Boys Varsity Hockey Team opened their season on December 4th with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Hotchkiss. The win demonstrated their fast-paced play and solid defense, boosting team morale and reaffirming their commitment to cohesive play. 

Senior Issac Truman said, “Reflecting on the victory, we’ve been working hard during the offseason, and it’s great to see all of our efforts paying off.” 

Riding this momentum, they kicked off the 2024 Exeter Invitational on December 7th and 8th. Two commanding victories set an early tone of excellence for the season. They triumphed 5-2 over Phillips Exeter Academy on Saturday, and defeated New Hampton School by a score of 5-2 the next day. Their talent was shown early in the season by this steady play. The players and school community have been invigorated by their impressive start.

Under head coach Craig Badger, the team aims to secure a top spot in the highly competitive New England prep hockey circuit, where schools such as Canterbury, Taft, Avon, and many more. With a blend of returning veterans and eager new talent, the team has shown early signs of dominance, quickly establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with.

With this strong momentum, Gunn hockey is poised for an exciting season. Fans are eager to see if this promising squad can turn their strong start into a championship run. As they continue to develop chemistry and refine their game, there is no doubt this group has the potential for a standout season. Strong leadership, fresh talent, and unwavering teamwork will be key as the team moves forward. Let’s see if they have what it takes!
