Kyle Millington’25
As the ball continues to be rolled into our game on Saturday. The team’s resilience, despite a few injuries picked up during practice, including Carson Bennett, ‘27, who was placed on Injured Reserve for a few weeks after a clashing tackle, injuries mean nothing now as we strive to beat our opponents. As the boys hit the road for Salisbury, we moved past our losses and aim for wins.
As JV arrived in Salisbury, the referee had an issue with one of our star players, Sebastian,’s shin guards, which led to Mr. Leathers receiving a yellow card even before the match began. In Mr. Leather’s words regarding this decision by the referee, “The decision to give Sebastian a yellow card was correct because his shin guards were not regulated. Sebastian should know better than to wear shin guards designed for a five-year-old soccer player.”
Recklessly and dramatically, the JV Soccer boys fought till the end, starting the game well by scoring the first goal. One of our players played too recklessly, leading to a substitution, and Salisbury capitalized as they scored three unanswered goals. As the coach decided to return the player to the game, he led the defensive charge and fed the ball to James Reinstein ‘27 to stride for victory, combining four goals in the last twenty minutes.
As JV Millbrook drove down on the following Saturday to our beloved South Street. JV soccer wasn’t letting them leave with anything more than last time. We started strong, with our first two goals within the first ten minutes coming from Junior Paul, assisted by our senior. Then, the following two goals were incoming from senior Millington 25’. As JV continues the rest of the season, they have obtained a winning record of 6 wins – 3 losses and are looking like a more challenging opponent than initially planned.
