The Frederick Gunn School completed the school store’s renovation during the past academic school year. The store was transformed into a walk-in store where students can browse the aisles and pick items. This was a great addition to the school as it greatly expanded the variety of items the students could purchase. Students can now buy various snacks and drinks, hygiene necessities, school supplies, and many types of Gunn school merchandise. Whether it’s a last-minute shopping run because a student forgot their water bottle or requires a Celsius for class, the school store is a place for students to get what they need to become the most successful Highlander they can be.
The school store manager, Lydia, kindly greets students and faculty, assisting anyone she can while engaging in conversations with the community. She is the person students go to when they need help obtaining their textbooks and will give students suggestions about the best drink to get. This operation is overlooked as students may find themselves here more than they realize. Madden Albert ’24 remarked,” My favorite part of the day is going to the school store to get a Celsius and snacks with my friends.” She represents how most students feel, as other community members answered similarly when asked the same question.
With the renovations, the school store is always packed with students eager to purchase items. Now that the school store isn’t limited to certain items, it can accommodate many more students and their needs. The school store renovations undoubtedly contributed to a student’s success. Thanks to Lydia and her staff, It is clear that the school store helps students learn life skills while developing knowledge, accountability, and money management.
