The White Horse Tavern

Located in the Marbledale village of Washington, Connecticut, White Horse Tavern is one of the more popular eating venues in the area. After opening in 2009, this cozy tavern has become one of the main attractions for Washington and is a great place to stop by for a drink or to sit down and eat.

The tavern has also somewhat turned into a museum with many interesting artifacts all around the restaurant, including an Indian Scout Motorcycle from 1920, an 1840 pub sign, and a document signed by William Clopton and many others.

They take customer satisfaction very seriously saying quote, “Each customer has made a decision to come to us, and they deserve our very best foot forward”

The menu at the White Horse Tavern pays homage to classic American and English cuisine with a modern twist. From fresh seafood to hearty comfort food, there is something to satisfy every plate. I recommend starting off your meal with a bowl of their famous New England clam chowder with a very savory broth. For mains, the tavern offers a selection of grilled steaks, seafood platters, and seasonal specials that showcase the best of local ingredients. One standout dish is the Tavern Burger, a juicy beef patty topped with crispy bacon and melted cheese served with a generous side of crispy fries.

Every year during Christmas Eve, the White Horse gives back to the community by creating an ornament with Woodbury Pewter, and all of the proceeds go to the Connecticut Food Bank where in the year past they have helped raise enough for 100,000 meals.

Dining at the White Horse Tavern is a culinary journey steeped in tradition and flavor. From its welcoming ambiance to its great service and cuisine, every part of the dining experience is guaranteed to make lasting memories. Whether you’re a local looking for a favorite neighborhood spot or a visitor seeking an authentic taste of New England hospitality, the White Horse Tavern is sure to leave a lasting impression.
