In the dark and cold of winter, we each have our own little things to keep us going. For the Highlander Newspaper staff, it is music. Every day, each one of us is introduced to music by Mr. McMann or our peers in the class. Sometimes, we like to stay in our comfort zone, listening to the same songs over and over. But the true beauty of music is listening to new songs, letting it change you as an individual. Here are a few favorites of ours:

Megan Sladish ‘25 – Run This Town by Jay-Z and Rihanna

“It gets me hyped.”

Sloane Walsh ‘25 – Is It True – Tame Impala

“It’ll make you feel like it’s the middle of summer. So happy and good.”

Maeren Hay ‘23 – Easy To Breathe by Jack Stauber

Georgie Charette ‘23 – Young Lust by Pink Floyd

“Listening to this as you walk out of your last class of the day is the best feeling ever.”

Caroline Marich ‘24 – “Anything from Noah Kahan”

Bridie Strowe ‘24 – Kozmic Blues by Janis Joplin

“It sounds like what falling in love feels like.”

Mairin Hoffman ‘25 – Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie

Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead and How Deep is Your Love by The Bee Gee’s

“Each one of these songs are lifechanging.”

Paige Jackson ‘24 – Good Riddance by Green Day, Piledriver Waltz by Arctic Monkeys, Northern Attitude by Noah Kahan, and Burn Burn Burn by Zach Bryan

Mr. McMann – 8 (circle) by Bon Iver
