“We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t -right this minute- about to make some fateful life-altering mistake.” – Taylor Swift
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’ve heard about Taylor Swift’s upcoming tenth album, Midnights. She announced this album at the VMA’s in August, and since then, fans have been anxiously anticipating what kind of album this will be. Some think rock and others think a folklore-type of album with a bunch of sad songs, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Swift has been extremely cryptic about what the genre of this album will be.
“This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve … we’ll meet ourselves.”
Taylor Swift posted an announcement on her Instagram with her description of the album, saying it tells the story of “13 Sleepless Nights.” The album comes out on October 21. This album surprised everyone as Taylor Swift has been rerecording her older albums again, including Red and Fearless, not putting out a lot of new music. Fans thought that Taylor Swift would be releasing another rerecording, either her 2010 album Speak Now or one of her most famous albums, 1989.
Taylor Swift has released the tracklist on her Instagram and TikTok account, one song at a time. The whole tracklist came out a few days ago, and fans have been claiming songs. Some of these tracks include Snow On The Beach featuring Lana Del Rey, Midnight Rain, and Karma. Personally, I am jumping up and down in excitement to hear Lana Del Rey on a Taylor Swift song. We can’t wait to listen to what this album will be like and are counting down the days till October 21. Make sure to tune in at midnight!
