It is the start of October, and we all know what that means; the Linen Rink is up and open for business! Starting the first week off right, both the boys and girls hockey teams have gotten on the ice and put in some work. The guys’ days to skate include Monday and Friday and the girls’ days to skate are Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesdays, they will split the ice and practice together as one big group. In addition to being on the ice, it is also special for people who do not skate nor play. The Linen Rink is a great place to go to watch people skate when you have nothing else to do. It’s a great way to spend your night and free time with friends. It helps create a great environment for the teams and even people that are just there to watch. It really shows an important part of our amazing community.
The ability to have our ice down at this time of the year is something that most schools don’t have the privilege to have. For our hockey teams to be able to skate this early is incredibly important and something that we surely shouldn’t and don’t take for granted. We are very fortunate here at The Frederick Gunn School for this great athletic opportunity. As always, we should continue to care for the space provided for us and leave it better than we have found it.
Be sure to watch out for the hockey practices and if you are ever bored and need something to do, head down to the Linen to attend and watch. Get excited for the upcoming winter hockey season and support our teams here at the rink. Who knows, you might learn a thing or two.
