An Introduction to the Prefects for the 19/20 School Year

Every year as The Gunnery starts a new school year, we welcome new prefects. Our new prefects are eager to lead our community for the next 9 months; here is some information to get to know each prefect.

Andrew Byrne-King ’20

Andrew Byrne-King:

How many years have you been at The Gunnery? 3 years

What is your fall sport? Outdoor Stewardship 

What dorm are you in? Gunn

Where are you from? Syracuse, New York

Fun fact about yourself? Andrew and his brother were born on the same day six years apart. 

What do you hope to achieve as a prefect? Andrews wants everyone to leave feeling like they are part of the Gunnery community. 

Juliette Gaggini ’20

Juliette Gaggini:

How many years have you been at The Gunnery? 4 years

What is your fall sport? Crew

What dorm are you in? Van Sinderen

Where are you from? Washington, Connecticut

Fun fact about yourself? Juliette is deaf in one ear. 

What do you hope to achieve as a prefect? Juliette hopes to make everyone feel welcome and an important part of the community. 

Nick O’Brien:

Nick O’Brien ’20

How many years have you been at The Gunnery? 4 years

What is your fall sport? Boys Varsity Soccer manager 

What dorm are you in? Gunn 

Where are you from? Killingworth, Connecticut

Fun fact about yourself? Nick is the 9th member of his family to go to The Gunnery.

What do you hope to achieve as a prefect? Nick wants everyone to feel comfortable in The Gunnery community. He understands how hard it is to make friends, especially the first few weeks. As an introvert, he wants everyone to know that nobody is alone. 

Marley Berano: 

Marley Berano ’20

How many years have you been at The Gunnery? 3 years

What is your fall sport? Varsity Field Hockey 

What dorm are you in? Van Sinderen

Where are you from? Litchfield, Connecticut

Fun fact about yourself? Disney World is her favorite place.

What do you hope to achieve as a prefect? With the new Arts and Community Center opening soon, Marley wants to maintain the tradition and fluidity of school meeting, but also dream up new and exciting ways to spend our community time. 

Corinne Bolding:

Corrine Bolding ’20

How many years have you been at The Gunnery? 2 years

What is your fall sport? Varsity Field Hockey

What dorm are you in? Van Sinderen

Where are you from? Northfield, Vermont 

Fun fact about yourself? Corinne has a dual Canadian and United States citizenship.

What do you hope to achieve as a prefect? Corinne wants to achieve a greater sense of community surrounding school events, especially weekend activities and mandatory programming. 

Nathaniel Ince:

Nathaniel Ince ’20

How many years have you been at The Gunnery? 4 years

What is your fall sport? X-Term

What dorm are you in? Gunn 

Where are you from? New Milford, Connecticut

Fun fact about yourself? Nathaniel has three dogs.

What do you hope to achieve as a prefect? As prefect, Nathaniel hopes to help foster a community of support where everyone can be free to be themselves. Along with this, he hopes that they can increase school spirit and get everyone hyped to be a Highlander!

Reed Dolph:

Reed Dolph ’20

How many years have you been at The Gunnery? 2 years

What is your fall sport? Soccer

What dorm are you in? Brinsmade

Where are you from? Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Fun fact about yourself? Reed loves to read; over the summer he read ten books!

What do you hope to achieve as a prefect? Reed hopes to make students feel at home and that they have someone who is always on their side, no matter the situation. He wants to be a prefect who students know they can go to and have a conversation if they ever need to get something off their chest. Reed believes our group of prefects’ main goal is to bring a thriving sense of community back to The Gunnery.
