With the school year at FGS picking up, sports have been coming along with it. We have had many competitive games against various teams, leading to some exciting results. Our school had games where we won by a significant amount, lost by a significant amount,  and some games that were very close.

Notably, the Girls Varsity Soccer team has won games against Wooster School, Millbrook School, Cheshire Academy, and Ethel Walker School. This makes their record 7-2-1, with the 2 losses being against Suffield Academy and Greenwich Country Day, and a tie against Hopkins.

Our Boys Varsity Football team has also had games with varying results, including a 40-28 win against Pomfret, a 48-6 win against Forman School, and a 0-46 loss against Holderness. It is hard to be a team with a perfect record, so losing a game is bound to happen and is not a problem as long as we play to the best of our abilities.

The Boys Crew first boat competed in the Head of the Charles on October 24th in the Men’s Youth Fours category, finishing 61st out of 84 boats.

When questioned about how our teams are doing compared to his expectations, Athletic Director Mr. Marich claimed that (Our teams) “are doing fantastic. I don’t have expectations for teams because they change from year to year, with new students entering and older ones graduating, but it has been nice to have a fairly normal fall season compared to last year’s.”

Other notable games and races coming up include Field Hockey (as they try to secure a playoff bid), cross country, and soccer.

Although teams have had many games, the season still has many more in store. Teams with a lack of wins still have many games to prove themselves, while teams with winning records can continue with their success.
